Become a Network Coordinator

The AUA offers many professional development opportunities for its members and amongst one of the most highly valued is the opportunity to act as a Network Coordinator for one of our many professional networks. We are currently seeking to appoint two Regional Coordinators, one for our North West region and one for the Anglia region. These appointments will be on an interim basis until 31 July 2012, with the opportunity to apply for the role for the substantive three year period following this.

Network Coordinators are vital to the ongoing development and growth of the Association so why not apply to become one now?

Network Coordinators roles are ideal for those wishing to:

  • enhance their professional profile and develop skills.
  • gain substantial networking opportunities and develop their knowledge of the sector by taking part in strategic projects and developments or participating in working groups
  • pursue their own interests in specific areas of HE policy and practice. A number of branches host specialist workshops and events focusing on key issues affecting the sector, and SIGs provide opportunities for special and generalist practitioners to share experiences and gain new knowledge

Coordinators are given the opportunity to attend development sessions every year at Annual Conference and Annual Lecture, as well as the opportunity to contribute to the strategic development and focus of the Association at the Joint Forum and throughout the year.

The Association and its members will expect their Network Coordinators to:

  • organise opportunities for professional development and networking by working with the National Office to plan, promote and deliver a coherent programme of activity
  • promote AUA events and activities organised nationally and regionally
  • keep the National Office informed of locally generated ideas, suggestions and feedback on the Association’s activities
  • act as an advocate for the profession and the Association to local and institutional  stakeholders
  • proactively recruit new members and foster active engagement by established members
  • engage with the governance of the Association through representation on Board of Trustees and Council and for coverage in Newslink
  • respond to regular requests for activity information for reporting to Board of Trustees and Council.
  • support the branches in their region by providing mentoring to BC’s and acting as a source of advice and knowledge
  • work with the National Office to deliver locally relevant regional events

Network Coordinators can expect the National Office to:

  • provide special and expert marketing communications advice and support
  • provide event management for larger scale events such as Regional Conferences
  • provide regular information on current membership
  • organise meetings
  • keep Network Coordinators up to date with National Office activity and AUA initiatives
  • provide annual training and development days for Network Coordinators
  • support the growth of AUA Networks by supporting planned Network activity financially
  • update website information relating to the region
  • provide online resources for Network Coordinators

Both posts will be on an interim basis with immediate effect until 31 July 2012, pending proposed constitutional changes to the Network Structure at AGM.

Further information about the regions can be found on the website. Further information about the roles can be found by contacting the AUA National Office on 0161 275 2063 or auabranchsupport@aua.ac.uk and speaking to Laura Ashcroft.

If you would like to be considered for the role please submit a CV along with a statement of no more than 500 words about the qualities and experience you would bring to the role.

Applications will close at 5pm on 31 January 2012. Applications for both posts should be sent to auabranchsupport@aua.ac.uk.

Applications should be submitted only by members based only in the two recruiting regions (North West and Anglia). All applications will be reviewed by a panel consisting of members of Board of Trustees and AUA National Office. Further information may be requested from applicants during this selection process. All applicants will be informed of the outcome by 28 February 2012.
