Funded Pilot Scheme
We are now inviting teams, departments, institutions, and professional groups to participate in a funded pilot scheme to support CPD Framework implementation projects and initiatives.
What is the CPD Framework used for?
The CPD Framework has been developed for professional services staff to provide a range of resources and tools to support development initiatives. Some examples of the range of activities the framework can be used for:
- Help to manage a change or restructure
- Identify team development and training needs
- Foster opportunities
- Service enhancement
- To enhance team/institutional performance
What is the CPD Framwork funded pilot scheme?
AUA is offering a funded and supported opportunity for interested parties to implement the framework, with FREE consultancy. A representative cohort of pilot partners will be supported to identify strategic development issues, design development interventions based on the Framework, and assess the impact of the initiative. A collection of case studies and CPD tools deriving from these projects will form the basis of a freely accessible archive to support ongoing staff and organisational development initiatives across the sector. Individuals working on the supported projects will be encouraged and suitably trained to act as implementation champions and mentors for future adopters of the Framework.
What sort of projects will be considered for the pilot scheme?
We welcome applications from teams, departments, institutions and professional groups to support a range of different themes and backgrounds. No project is too small or too large.
What support can pilot institutions expect?
All funded projects will receive up to four days’ consultancy from an assigned consultant to plan and set objectives, to support and facilitate actions and to evaluate project processes and outcomes. This will include an initial scoping meeting at the start of the project and a final evaluation meeting at the end of the project. The other consultancy support will be tailored to the specific needs of the institution/department/team and will be agreed between the relevant AUA consultant and the project sponsor at the scoping meeting. Examples of tailored support activities include:
- The identification of training and development needs at individual/team/department level
- The design and delivery of development interventions based on the framework mapping existing provision against the framework
- The design of processes/documentation to support implementation
- Mapping existing processes/documentation against the framework
- Evaluating the effectiveness of individual development interventions
- Capturing learning throughout the project
All funded projects will be afforded opportunities to:
- Showcase their project and receive recognition for their contribution to the implementation
- Develop or enhance consultancy and mentoring skills
What is expected of pilot institutions?
At the outset of the project, the project sponsor will be expected to commit to: progressing and completing their project to agreed timescales securing appropriate institutional-level approvals prior to commencement of the project liaising with relevant institutional interested parties (for example, Staff Development teams, HR, AUA branch co-ordinators) and updating them as appropriate during the project facilitating timely access to relevant information and resources within their institution acting as a champion of the framework both within their institution and in the wider sector sharing their experiences by:
- Writing or contributing to case studies
- Writing or contributing to articles for Newslink/Perspectives
- Delivering conference sessions providing mentoring support to other project teams in later implementation cohorts
Application deadline
Applications for funding for the third cohort of projects will be open from June 2012
