AUA is a membership-led organisation which aims to promote excellence in HE management. We do this by enabling the exchange of good practice, facilitating professional development and implementing the code of professional standards.
If you wish your commitment to driving professionalism in the sector to be recognised formally and you have:
- current and continuous membership of AUA for at least five years
- made a substantial personal contribution to the development of the Association and the profession of HE management and administration
- relevant and appropriate experience of the sector
- a commitment to continued professional development
then apply for Fellowship of AUA.
AUA’s Fellowship scheme aims to give recognition to any member who has made a significant contribution to the development of the Association and the management and administration of the higher education sector.
Application fee
There is one-off, non-returnable fee of £25 to cover the assessment of
your application. You continue to pay the appropriate membership subscription
to AUA which is due.
Application Assessment
References will be taken up prior to consideration by the Assessment Panel.
Referees must be members of AUA. An Assessment Panel, appointed by the Board of Trustees,
considers all applications.
Deadlines
There are two application cycles each year, with deadlines of 31 January and 31 July.
Applications received by the AUA Office by 31 January will be assessed by 28 February and the outcomes notified by 10 March. Fellowship presentations will be made during the Plenary Address at the Annual Conference in March/April.
Applications received by the AUA Office by 31 July will be assessed by 30 September and the outcomes notified by 10 October. Fellowship presentations will be made at the Annual Lecture in late October.
Appeals
Any unsuccessful applicant may appeal against the decision of the Assessment
Panel and have their original application considered de novo, on one further
occasion only, without charge, by an Appeals Panel. In these cases, the original
application will be considered, and no fresh supporting evidence can be admitted
by the applicant.
Benefits of Fellowship
Fellows will receive a certificate
upon presentation of their Fellowship.
Fellows will be authorised to use the designation of FAUA after their name.
Details of approved Fellows will be posted on the AUA website and newslink will run features on newly appointed Fellows.
